Join us in beautiful Takaka, Golden Bay New Zealand for a weekend of tunes, songs, great food and seaside rambles with Chris Norman. The workshop is geared primarily to flute players with tunes from Maritime Canada: Cape Breton, Acadian, French Canadian, Old-Time, as well as gems from the Scottish and Irish traditions. Songs, ballads, pipe and whistle tunes will also also be included. Simple system and modern flutes are welcome.  The weekend workshop spans three consecutive days, hosted by Debbie and Mark Pearson at Manuka Essence in Takaka.  Space is limited to 10 participants; advance booking is required.

Chris NORMAN
Flute, Whistle, Pipes

Chris’ influential work as performer, composer, recording artist, teacher and flute maker has earned him worldwide recognition. His flute playing has appeared on more than 40 recordings and can be heard featured on numerous Hollywood soundtracks. Chris is founder and director of Boxwood Festivals, inspiring thousands of musicians of all ages. As a flute maker, he brings to bear a discernment forged over a 30-year career to make world-class flutes for traditional, baroque and renaissance music. Chris’ awards and honors include a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal from the Senate of Canada, and a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa in recognition of his artistic achievements and contributions to a worldwide community.
